چکیده
Introduction and aims of the study: Some studies on sibling oocytes have shown that intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) obtains poorer results than conventional in vitro fertilization (cIVF) women with ovarian endometriosis, suggesting their could be particularly sensitive to some ICSI-induced mechanical damage. Aims this study were clarify (a) whether endometriosis induce peculiar fragility so ICSI would finally result harmful, (b) endometrioma removal before IVF advisable order avoid any hypothetical detrimental effect oocytes. Methods: In present case-control study, data who underwent first cycle between January 2010 December 2018 at Unit S. Anna Hospital, Turin (Italy), retrospectively reviewed. We included 368 women: 203 situ time (128 which 75 cIVF), 165 received laparoscopic stripping undergoing ICSI. Results: For treatment, cIVF outcome was comparable for all studied parameters, including clinical pregnancy rate per embryo transfer (PR/ET: 31.8% (95% confidence interval (CI), 20.8-44.4%) group vs. 39.5% (95%CI, 30.7-48.9%) group, p=0.15) cumulative live birth ovum pick-up (CLBR/OPU: 24.4% 15.6-35.1%) 27.7% (95%CI,20.7-35.7%) p=0.29). also similar comparing (CLPR/OPU: 20.7-35.7%)) previously submitted cyst 25.1% 19.1-32.0%)) (p=0.30). Conclusions: Our findings suggest may performed, when needed, without harming compromising outcome, there is no advantage removing performing

Does Ginger Protect Against Ovarian Damage in Rats Induced by Sodium Metabisulfite Toxicity? An Experimental Evidence
Background: Sulfites including sodium metabisulfite (SMB) are commonly used as food preservatives and pharmaceutical products. Despite their worldwide use, there is evidence suggesting their toxicity on human organs and tissues. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of SMB with or without Zingiber officinale (ginger) extract on the rat ovary. Methods: A total of 32 adult, female...
متن کاملThe sensitivity of the DNA damage checkpoint prevents oocyte maturation in endometriosis
Mouse oocytes respond to DNA damage by arresting in meiosis I through activity of the Spindle Assembly Checkpoint (SAC) and DNA Damage Response (DDR) pathways. It is currently not known if DNA damage is the primary trigger for arrest, or if the pathway is sensitive to levels of DNA damage experienced physiologically. Here, using follicular fluid from patients with the disease endometriosis, whi...

Objective(s): The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of subacute administration of propylthiouracil (PTU) on gentamicin (GM)-induced nephrotoxicity in male rats. Materials and Methods: Male Wistar rats were divided into 4 experimental groups as follow: (1) Control group: isotonic saline (1 ml/kg, IP. for 18 d), (2) GM group: 100 mg/kg, IP for 8 d, (3) PTU group: PTU...

متن کاملPoint:Counterpoint: Skeletal muscle mechanical efficiency does/does not increase with age POINT: SKELETAL MUSCLE MECHANICAL EFFICIENCY DOES INCREASE WITH AGE
We thank Dr. Ortega for the opportunity to debate the concept that aging affects exercise efficiency. From the outset we must acknowledge that, indeed, some studies report an age-related reduction task efficiency during walking and other rather complex tasks (2, 12, 20, 21). However, in contrast, our recent study of leg cycling in centenarians (28), as well as other work focused more specifical...
